MERCY REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER is pleased to announce that Brandon Fontenot, M.D. is our new Chief of Staff starting on July 28, 2020. Joining Dr. Fontenot on the Executive Medical Board is Ellis Landreneau, M.D. who will serve as Vice-Chief of Staff and Jake Lafleur, M.D. will serve as Secretary Treasurer. In their new roles, they will serve as liaisons between the hospital and Board of Directors identifying strategy and growth plans that will continue to support patients and identify new service opportunities. They will partner with the Medical Executive Committees, to establish direction and goals for the medical staff for the next two years.
“Dr. Fontenot has been a long time community physician who has an excellent history with Mercy Regional Medical Center. His leadership and expertise will assist our medical staff, advance patient care, and improve our role in the community” said Calvin Green, CEO.
Before accepting the role as chief of staff, Dr. Fontenot served as UR/resource management committee chair from 2007 to 2009. He served as Internal Medicine chair and Quality committee chair from 2008 to 2009. He was Mercy’s Chief of Staff and Medical Executive Committee chair from 2009 to 2013. His also served as Secretary/ Treasurer in 2016 and 2017. He recently served as Vice Chief of Staff in 2018 and 2019. Dr. Fontenot grew up in Ville Platte and is an alumni of Sacred Heart. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2002. He completed his internship/ residency at Earl K. Long Medical Center in Internal Medicine.
